About the subject:
This subject gives students the opportunity to engage with the dynamic scope of contemporary design theory and historical design movements. Students gain a strong foundation on which to build their own unique visual language and make informed decisions in creative environments. With a strong focus on professional practice, students gain exposure to briefing and consultation processes, along with insights into creative studio management. Case studies and design trends are explored via current local and international design studios and campaigns. The subject is made up of two-trimester Units of Study: Design Theory & Practice (Autumn) and Design Theory & Practice (Winter). Enrolment can be at any at trimester stage. Single trimester enrolment is available. Completing the units will complete the subject requirement for the Diploma of Graphic Design.

|There are 3 trimesters in a year. Each trimester is a Unit of Study. Students completing both Units of Study will complete the DESIGN THEORY & PRACTICE subject in the Diploma of Graphic Design. Students are able to enter the subject at any trimester stage.|
No experience is necessary. Participants are generally from a wide range of age groups and backgrounds.

A course place is confirmed once payment has been made. Payment can be completed over the telephone or details can be included on the Enrolment Form.
For Single Subjects there are no enrolment deadlines. Please be aware that subjects and courses at Latrobe College are popular and can fill quickly. To avoid disappointment it is recommended that enrolment is completed 4 weeks before classes start.
Approximately a week before your class begins you will receive a Welcome Email including any material requirements.
